About The MCC Youth Section

Marshfield Cricket Club has a thriving youth section, which aims to
develop cricket skills in a fun & friendly atmosphere, with
approximately 100 juniors aged 8 to 17, from the village and surrounding
area.
They are divided into squads according to age:
U9 Introduced to cricket by playing Kwik Cricket and also
have the opportunity to play in several Sunday morning
festivals at local clubs.
Children are then introduced to hard ball cricket as they move up to
U11. In 2010 the youth teams are entered into the following leagues:
- U11 Wiltshire Youth Cricket League and the Konica Minolta
Bristol Youth Cricket League
- U13 Wiltshire Youth Cricket League and the Bath & District
Youth Cricket League
- U15 Wiltshire Youth Cricket League
- U17 Konica Minolta Bristol Youth Cricket League
Entering our youth teams into more than one league as well as cup and
friendly matches throughout the season ensures there is plenty of
cricket available, giving all players the opportunity to gain some match
experience.
In 2012 we are also aiming to form a girls team at Under 11, with the opportunity to play other girls teams through the season as well as specific training sessions at youth team practice on a Friday night.
In 2009 Marshfield Cricket Club gained the prestigious 'Clubmark'
status, which demonstrates our commitment to delivering best practice in
youth cricket. We currently have up to 15 ECB qualified coaches at either
Level 1 or Level 2, all coaches, regular helpers and many senior players
have completed the necessary CRB checks. Read more about what Clubmark means.
