Bondy Named WEPL Wiltshire Player of the Season
A mixed table of 12 – by mixed I mean youth and experience, brains and well, not many brains – attended the highly enjoyable WEPL End of Season Awards Dinner at the BAWA Club on Friday. It was a great chance to chat about cricket and reminisce about the odd match, dropped catch or awful shot. Many other clubs were well represented and some good rival banter ensued – not least with our old mates at Goatacre!
Highlight of the event, from a Marshfield perspective was witnessing Ben Gardner wolf down two main courses (roast lamb, potatoes and veg) in around 3 minutes flat. The guest speaker for the evening was ex-Essex, Lancashire and England legendary (really?) all rounder Ronni Irani. Regaling us with the usual dressing room stories and yarns about some truly awful performances!
Oh yeah, nearly forgot, there was the small matter of seeing Jeremy Bond collect his fantastic WEPL Wiltshire League player of the year award! This award is voted for by the captains of all the teams in the league so it’s very well deserved indeed.
Here’s hoping to another successful season in 2018.
