Snow stops play!
arshfield Under 13's started their season in a match with a dramatic conclusion! Having managed to avoid a sharp downpour shortly before the match, the weather brightened and the game began in bright but blustery conditions. Marshfield batted first and a solid batting performance resulted in a competitive total of 98 for 5 wickets. Josh Gay and Harry Delargy's opening stand of laid the foundation for the total and a quick fire 20 from Harvey Vellacott finished the innings in style.
As the Bathford innings commenced the storm clouds began to draw ever closer. With the senior players abandoning their net session in favour of the sanctuary of the clubhouse, Ben Sinkins took two quick wickets to reduce the visitors to 8-2 to leave the match well poised. However, the storm was imminent and the umpires had no option but to take the players off the field. Within moments a dramatic snow storm engulfed the ground and in no time the ground was white! With the rare result of snow stop play the boys resorted to rounding off the evening with a snowball fight and fun in the snow. An extraordinary end to the match, hopefully the snow will stay away next week!
