U11 Girls @  Golden Hill Festival

Great Performance by U11's At Golden Hill

Girls U11 Golden Hill 10 06 18

Marshfield Girls U11s competed fiercely at the Girls festival at Golden Hill today.  There were some fine batting, bowling and fielding performances from the older and younger girls alike.  Great capataincy, shared by Maddie and Darcey, saw some shrewd field placements, and a great decision to field first when the toss of the coin was won in the final game.  Talking about the final game, MCC managed to chalk up its first win at the festival, having been slightly outplayed by more experienced and powerful sides in the first two games.

We had twelve girls, ranging from Year 3 to Year 6, all playing the way the game should be played showing great sportsmanship at all times.  Well done all involved.  Thanks to Pete for arranging, Shaun for scoring, Clare for team management, and to the parents for making so many players available.

U13 Girls @ GT Rissington Festival

SUNBURN, STINGERS, SPRINGWATCH = SUCCESS

Lily Bradley, Emmy Meier, Poppy Macgowan, Emmy Denman, Maddy Elliott and Frankie Pilcher represented Marshfield U13’s in a 6-a-side comp at Great Rissington today.

A 1pm start ( Dan Macgowan take note) we arrived to see a 5 game schedule on an increasingly warm day - so sunscreen was applied, fluids taken on board, coach instructions shared and the girls smartly dispatched Cirencester B by 30 runs, with a very smart fielding and bowling display- followed by Bourton vale by 30 runs - coach Andy having to retrieve Emma’s flurry of 4’s from the stinging nettles “ has anyone got a doc-leaf” he was heard to say.

Game 3 and Fairford were dealt with with some great hitting from Emma again, Lily with some fine straight hitting and Frankie too. Despite Maddys springwatch-esque buzzard/kite spotting disrupting the play. Emmy D being the pick of our bowlers for some accurate quick bowling.

Group winners meant 2 tough games to follow. A narrow defeat followed to Great Rissington where the girls were clearly getting tired - which meant we played Poulton Avec Tosca the Gloucestershire wicketkeeper ( we thought this was a development comp!!!!) we top scored here with 261, with everyone getting runs, but Tosca’s 2 over 50 was too much for us - but we were only 18 runs short despite some good bowling from Maddy and Poppy really starting to get the hang of it.

Presentation time and Poulton win but the MIGHTY MARSHFIELD MARVELS grab 2nd place on run rate - so WELL DONE girls and parents.

U15 Girls @ Gloucs Blast Competiton

Two in Two for U15's

girls U15 10 06 18

Two wins out of two on Sunday for our under-15 girls in the Gloucestershire blast competition.

In our first game we bowled Bath out for 35, the attack led by Alex T, who also captained the side. Sharp fielding - including catching all our chances. A very solid opening partnership from Beth and Molly B gave us the victory with overs to spare.

In the second game, Stoke Bishop set a decent total of 81 of 16 overs.  Molly B (35 not out) and Alice W (28 not out) led us to victory in that one. Again, really mature batting.

Special mention to Alberta who stopped the flow of runs by Stoke Bishop when they were batting well with a spell of accurate left arm bowling. Claudia made her debut at this level and fielded and bowled beautifully.

Thanks to Pippa and Martin for their help.

Team: Molly B, Beth, Alice E, Belle, Alice W, Alex T, Molly M, Claudia, Alberta.
