Marshfield U13 visited Hampset Harriers and came away with a resounding victory thanks to an excellent bowling and fielding display.  Having elected to bat, the home side were soon questioning the decision as Harvey Vellacott opened the bowling with a double wicket maiden, followed by a Ben Sinkins wicket in his opening over.  Ollie Bates took a further wicket in the next over with all batsmen being clean bowled and Hampset were reduced to 4 runs for 4 wickets inside the first 3 overs.

Marshfield continued to change the bowlers in 1 over spells but wickets continued to tumble with Greg Elmes, Josh Gay, Ed Avery taking wickets and Joseph Pearce taking 2 for no runs as the home side were bowled out for 25.  The accurate bowling was backed up by a dynamic fielding display with wickets falling to a smart stumping by keeper Rory Bushell, a direct hit from Ben, good work from Greg and a superb direct hit from the boundary edge with just a single stump to aim at by Harvey.

To finish the innings off Harvey moved to slip and promptly took an excellent diving catch, you cannot keep Harvey out of the game!

In reply the opportunity was given to the more inexperienced players to open the innings.  Jacob Barton and Harry Millar, who finished on a well-made 12 not out, batted nicely to almost reach the victory target before Joseph hit the winning boundary in just the 6th over of the innings to record a convincing 9 wicket victory.
