Despite being in a third lockdown and few members of the MCC playing contingent qualifying for a vaccine any time soon, plans are still underway for the coming season!
These are obviously subject to change given the weird world we currently live in, but here goes!
Senior Winter Nets
We’re still hoping to offer some form of Winter nets at Kingswood School if rules allow. The nets are booked for our usual Wednesday night slot from 6.30 till 8.00 and we’ll update everyone as soon as we get more information.
Junior Winter Nets
We’re planning to offer Winter nets at Hardenhuish School, again, if rules allow. Specific dates and times will follow.
As well as the usual youth sessions this Winter, we were also planning to introduce a ‘MCC Performance Programme’ to selected players at the club. Frustratingly we’ve had to postpone plans, but will still be going ahead with these sessions in the summer!
The sessions will be run by GP Cricket and this season’s overseas recruit, Tom Draca and more information will be sent out to players and parents in the next few weeks.
Senior Summer Training
Tuesday and Thursday night training sessions will continue as usual from 6-8pm and we’ll be looking to get the nets ready for use as early as possible in the event we don’t manage any Winter sessions.
Friday night Junior sessions will be returning as close to normal as possible for 2021 (subject to a few social distancing tweaks!). Sessions for all U15 Boys will be shifting from Friday nights to Thursday evenings, more details below. This will provide more specialist coaching to our older players as they seek to make the transition to Senior cricket.
Under 14-18 Juniors
The boys Under 15s side, along with any players between 15 and 18 who are keen to continue playing cricket once they have passed through the clubs Junior age group sides will have a dedicated training slot. These sessions will run from 5.00 and 6.30 on a Thursday night.
Hopefully the plans will still be the same by the time March rolls around, but whatever happens we’ll keep you all up to date and be making sure we’re able to offer as much cricket as possible.
