Match Report - Marshfield Boys U11 Vs Biddestone Bears - Away - Monday 10th May
A superb win in the first match of the season for the Boys Under 11 team. On a windy Monday evening the team took on Biddestone at their ground in what was the first hard ball match ever for some of the team. After winning the toss captain for the day Tobias Collis elected to bat first, and after careful batting set Biddestone a decent target. The team showed great discipline, meeting some of the better bowling with straight bats and carefully racking up the runs. Openers Lewis Lortal and Liam Davidson setting the tone with a solid first four overs.
The real demonstration of calm came when the Biddestone were batting. With many of these boys in their first hardball match the teamwork, support and talking between each other ensured we not only kept Biddestone’s scoring down but secured early wickets to peg them back early and make any chance of them reaching our total looking unlikely. A great team effort with some real highlights, including a great catch at cover by Josh Johnston, a direct hit runout by Lewis and six of the eight bowlers all taking at least one wicket.
Roll on Corsham next week.
