An exciting first match for our new Marshfield women’s academy team. We played a friendly against Winsley and narrowly lost by a single run on the very last ball of the 20/20 game. The girls and women played competitive, determined cricket but with great, good-humoured team spirit.

Marshfield batted first with Maddy E and Darcey getting us off to a very solid start. Molly B came in third and upped the run rate, pushing her partners for twos when there was hardly a single there and threes when anyone else would have settled for a two. Molly also captained the side.

Alice E hit the first boundary for the new team while Ruby, Frankie, and Tamia all played some great shots. Molly B top scored with 25 not out and Marshfield finished with 95.

Ruby and Frankie shared the wicket-keeping duties on a very hot morning, with both performing wonderfully well.

Terrific bowling from Amelia and Darcey who took two wickets each. Molly, Frankie and Alice all took a wicket each. Great run out too from Maddy and Alice.

Good bowling and support in the field from Bea, Mia and Amelie.

Thanks to all the coaches and the club.

And to our sponsors, Hand and Millar Management Consultancy LLP, who have supplied us with our striking new kit.

We’re looking forward to our first league matches.
