Our vision is: to be the best youth section in the region
Our mission is: through cricket, to give our youngsters the opportunity to discover and sustain a passion for sport that they will carry with them into adulthood
Our objectives are to:
1 create a safe environment for our players
2 maximise the development of each of our players
3 create fun sessions for our players
4 ensure that our players play the game in the right way
5 ensure the confidence of our players develops
6 ensure that anyone who wants to play cricket at Marshfield is able to do so
7 create a clear pathway through the youth section for our players
8 ensure a regular transition from youth to senior cricket for our players
9 manage our players with high potential
10 ensure our players are aware of their achievements
Marshfield Cricket Club Youth Section has over 160 players registered, including 80 girls. The section achieves strong results in many competitions and around twenty of our players invited by either Gloucester or Wiltshire to play County or District cricket. We have around 40 coaches including nine ECB qualified coaches and nine women. We also have great support from team managers for the boys and girls teams ensuring our continued success.
This season we had a professional coach supporting the development of the boys and girls and we will build on this model in 2022. We hope that this additional coaching support will provide master classes for all of our coaches to support the youth section to deliver further on-field success, while maintaining our inclusive ethos. On the support side, the club has also invested this winter in our coaching capability and we’re excited that we’ll have a further 4 qualified ECB coaches working with the squad in 2022. We are also pleased to offer winter training sessions to members in February and March to help them prepare for the coming season.
Friday nights are always popular and we will be exploring how we can continue to grow whilst ensuring a safe and fun environment for all of our youth players. Any player who registered in 2021 will be able to re-register in 2022. We will also participate in the ECB’s All Stars Scheme, which will give new (and current) players between the ages of 5 and 8, an 8-week programme of cricket. Keep an eye out for information about this if you think it is for your child.
Here’s looking forward to another cracking season at MCC, see you in April!
