Cricket World Cup Family Evening and Jamaican BBQ

CWC19 Carribean BBQ 28 06 19 28

Over 120 youngsters and their families flocked to a very successful CWC19 Family Evening and Jamaican BBQ on Friday evening. Whilst the children were put through their paces, Nick Fryer and his crew cooked up some Caribbean delights including Jerk Chicken, Pork belly with Coconut, Plantain kebabs and salads. Thanks so much to Nick, Francesca and helpers!

Appropriately, our new gazebo (purchased with the help of a Cricket World Cup Grant) got its first public outing – supposed to ‘pop-up’ inside 1 minute according to the instructions, a group of six assistants were able to erect it under the direction of seasoned camper, Colin Sinkins, in a very creditable TWELVE minutes according to the stopwatch, including five additional minutes when it was discovered that the roof had inadvertently been put on inside out!

We hope that the event, in some small way, raised awareness of the World Cup amongst those attending and that World Cup ‘fever’ is well and truly ignited following England’s excellent win over India, resulting in a run to The Final at Lords on July 14th.
