MCC Youth Section Nominated for National Award!!
Marshfield Cricket Club is delighted that it has been shortlisted by the ECB for a National Award in the 'Coaching Club of the Year' category. This club-wide award recognises the contribution the club has made available to fund so many of our volunteers through the ECB Level 2 Coaching and the Coach Support Workers courses, the efforts of our coaching leads for each section who have made such great efforts in recruiting and retaining so many volunteers and, of course, the volunteers themselves.
Our volunteers, whether they are players from our senior teams, or parents of youth players, past and present, plan and deliver training sessions week in, week out, through the summer. They also organise, attend, and umpire matches most days of the week. So, thank you to you all. Thank you too to Julie Hendy who does so much of the organising of courses, and for ensuring our volunteers are up-to-date with their safeguarding and first aid courses!
Thanks too to Pete Sykes and his team at the Wiltshire Cricket Board who have provided great advice and support, including in delivering the coaching courses, over the past few years in this important area.
We are always on the look-out for more volunteers, and especially women volunteers, who would like to get involved - so please get in touch if this is something you'd like to be part of. We have a growing girls section, around eighty girls, and we need to ensure that they have appropriate role models. Previous cricket experience, while not discouraged, is not required!
The awards are to be held on 9 November, we'll let you know how we get on!
