Girls U11's Win Again as U13's Succumb To narrow Defeat

Girls Cricket lres 1 426x640

Two excellent girls' game on Sunday on a lovely sunny day.

The under-11s entertained Frampton and Frocester, who travelled from the banks of the River Severn to take us on. A good win for Marshfield. Thanks especially to Belle, who captained the team brilliantly.

Our under-13s hardball team were narrowly beaten by Bath girls in the Lady Taverners Cup. Bath had sent a very strong team after we beat a less experienced team in the Gloucestershire League the previous weekend.

We batted first - Alice E top scored and we made 91 from our 20 overs.

At the halfway stage we were looking good for the win but they had a couple of free-scoring overs and squeezed the victory.

Lily captained superbly (no help from the sidelines was allowed so a big responsibility). Really brave wicket-keeping from Beth and a great diving catch from Alex was probably the champagne moment.

Molly M, Alice W, Molly B and Martha all did brilliantly too. And, not forgetting Belle and Maddie who acted as sub fielders.

Five of the eight who started are eligible in the age-group next year so the future looks bright. Thanks to all the coaches and helpers.

 Steve Morris.
