Marshfield hosts the first U11 Girls Festival of the Season...
Marshfield Cricket Club was delighted to host eight teams of U11 girls for the first festival of the season - Marshfield (2), Frampton, Golden Hill (2), Frenchay (2), and Stoke Bishop. It was great to see so many players showing off their great batting, bowling and fielding skills.
While results didn't go Marshfield's way today, any disappointment was outweighed by the availability of enough cake to sink a battleship. Certainly, some things to work on in the next few weeks; hitting hard, bowling straighter and between-the-wicket communications.
Thanks to all the volunteers for helping out with the BBQ and the tea and cakes stand, and everything else that goes into making these events work, but a big shout out to Pete Morgan who organised all of the teams and fixtures, which was central to the smooth running of the festival and to Marshfield Maidens Team Manager, Jane Christie, for volunteering to run one of our teams.
Robin Hand
On behalf of the committee, and I'm sure the parents, as he is too modest to blow his own trumpet, a big thanks must be given to Robin for the time and effort he has put in the organising and running of the festival.
