U11's Win Runners Up Trophy At Golden Hill Festival
Marshfield girls section entered two teams into Golden Hill, Bristol, festival and I'm very happy to report on a very successful trip.
Manager Peter Morgan reports" The u11s girls were runners up in the Golden Hill cup! They were on a winning streak that lead to the final but sadly the rain interrupted play. So they didn't get a chance to actually play the final. They were declared runners up via some complex mathematical formula. There was some fab cricket played. I think everyone in the side got boundaries as some point. Player of the team, Maddie White, took wickets, catches, hit sixes and was great at the communication and encouragement. There was a real team spirt and they even got a trophy! I'm sure this is the first of many!"
The Under 9's played in a mixed game with Golden Hill in a 9-a-side T18 Pairs game. All the girls did very well with some excellent, batting, fielding and bowling in a game played in a great friendly spirit, which ended just as the heavens opened in a narrow victory for the Vipers over the Stars. It was particularly pleasing to see a great improvement in the running between wickets whilst batting. The coaches MoM went to Eleanor Payne who as well as batting and bowling well took a great catch in the field.
A massive thanks must go to all the volunteers at Golden Hill Sports who must have put a huge effort in to put on such a great festival. The vegetable samosas proved to be a big hit!
