Two wins from Two for the U9 Boys At The Goatacre Festival
Marshfield U9s had a great morning at the Goatacre U9 Kwik Cricket Festival on Sunday. In our first match against Devizes, the team showed incredible discipline in the field and some great bowling to keep their total down and take some important wickets. Our batting performance was equally controlled, scoring 125 for the loss of just one wicket - with wickets costing five runs the team are learning to not give way any cheap ones. A strong finishing innings from Tobias and Angus helped us on to a great victory.
In our second match, Calne started strongly with the bat but we showed great spirit, taking vital wickets and bring the run rate down in the second half of the innings. Chasing a total of 110 for four wickets (net 90) Marshfield varied their game from the first innings, putting on a master class of big hitting with 11 sixes and 16 fours contributing to a winning total of 150 runs - net 125. Will Cheetham's two sixes in the final over summed up the innings. Even with a few new players this week the team are really working together and showing really great focus in what is only their third festival, with everyone contributing throughout the day, and wickets evenly spread. Roll-on Bathford on Sunday 14th.
