Narrow Defeat for U15 Girls in Seasons Belated Opener

U13 girls Stoke Bishop 07 07 19

he effervescent Marshfield U15 girls team played their 1st match in 10 months this evening ( Wednesday 29th ) - we managed to gather 10 players during school holidays which was the 1st great achievement of the season for this coach.

  • Meg
  • Bea
  • Ruby
  • Alberta
  • Molly
  • The Maddies
  • Lily
  • Tamia
  • + Izzy Coombs on debut

Golden Hill were the opposition and the coaches agreed a friendly 16 over hard ball normal  format ( Not pairs ) .

Marshfield batted first with Alberta and Maddie white opening, they played very well and sensibly against some accurate bowling, everyone contributed with runs ( no ducks 🦆) . With some great running as always from Tamia, lily, Bea and meg. With Izzy getting her 1st runs for the MCC. The score was 60-3 off 16 overs.

Within 2 minutes of the golden hill innings it had rapidly turned into the Molly Brophy show with a triple wicket maiden

With a fourth wicket in her 2nd over she finished with 4 for 1 run, with Golden hill in disarray and to give everyone a game in true cricket spirit Molly had a well deserved break .

New wicketkeeper trainees Ruby Hand and Alberta Fryer reluctantly took turns with the gloves - with the latter having her own personal fan club cheering her on - but both did very well and we may have a fight on our hands next match on who takes the gloves.

Maddy Elliott 0-4, Maddie White, 0-7, Ruby  1-3 and  Tamia 0-2 all bowled accurately.

Golden Hill finished on 65-5 narrowly winning but the result was irrelevant as the girls did very very well in every aspect, and WE played in the right spirit and outplayed the opposition In every department but for a few extra wides, with everyone enjoying it.

Thanks to Robin and Steve for helping too. #itsgreattobeback
